Matcha: a complex and refined flavour!
Matcha is becoming increasingly popular around the world due to its unique taste and health benefits.
Matcha is made from the green tea leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, which are grown in the shade for several weeks before harvest. This cultivation method increases the production of chlorophyll and other compounds that give matcha its vibrant green color and distinctive taste.
The leaves are then picked, dried and ground into a fine green powder. This powder is then used to prepare traditional matcha tea by mixing it with hot water using a bamboo whisk called a chasen.
Matcha is also used to flavor hot and cold drinks, ice cream, smoothies, and pastries. It is rich in antioxidants, catechins, L-theanine, and caffeine, making it a healthy and stimulating drink for the body and mind.
